CAM Architects developed a conceptual proposal exploring the use of green materials, sustainability, and the integration of alternative energy sources into a maintenance facility. An important additional function of the facility was to mark the entrance to a recreation area within the community. The requirement for a prominent building drove the masterplan proposal, which incorporated walking and bike paths within the recreation area and placement of the building on axis to the entrance of the new park. Conceptual sketches by C. Allen Mullins suggested a modified classical form which responded to passive and active solar systems in the building.
