MONTGOMERY PARK BAY ADDITION

Bay addition and kitchen design for a townhouse in Boston’s historic south end. The client expressed a need for a larger, more functional, and modernized kitchen. Expanding the kitchen to include a dining area that overlooked into a communal garden was a primary concern. A historically compatible bay was proposed to link the inside space with the garden outdoors by means of a cantilevered deck. The kitchen is designed to functionally accommodate the heavy use it receives for entertaining while the expanded sitting, dining, and deck areas create spaces that are conducive to conviviality and socialization. The historically sensitive solution ensured that the project received approval from both the neighborhood and the regulatory agencies.
