The principal members of the firm are active members of the American Institute of Architects, AIA. In 2001 principal, C. Allen Mullins sat as President of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter. Both Richard Malcolm and Brian Overman are associate AIA members. AIA supports continuing education to help architects stay current in their field. They offer standardized contracts to save time and help address emerging issues. Our staff utilizes the countless web-based resources, market research, knowledge communities and annual conventions that are provided to keep abreast of developments.

A particular element to community service by firm members is the relationship to nearby Luzerne County Community College. At LCCC a multitude of quality and unique liberal arts and technology programs are offered including Architectural Engineering Technology. Allen Mullins, Brian Overman and Richard Malcolm are all professors at the college instructing courses under the Applied Science degree in Architectural Engineering Technology. C. Allen Mullins Architect’s staff are proud of the opportunity to give back to the field and be part of a student’s development as they prepare for a professional career. Many past and current interns and staff members have come from LCCC.

A pet charity is the MSG Paul Karpowich Foundation, Inc. founded in memory of a former student and colleague who was killed in Iraq. The annual fundraiser benefits a number of charities including the local AIA scholarship fund which was spearheaded by Allen Mullins.

Team building continues with activities outside of work time including the nearly ceremonial lunch break and field trips to architectural sites in the region. In addition, there is a strong commitment to attending the annual AIA convention which is held in a different large city each year.

When schedules allow extracurricular activities include staff involvement in Ice Hockey, (Rick is a devoted player) Golf Outings, Hiking, and Cultural Events.
